When I set out to write this novel three years ago, it was a very different story from what it is today. The protagonist, Haleema, was a police officer and I was aiming for a crime fiction novel. Somewhere along the way, she became what she is now. A photographer who is unsure of herself in nearly every aspect of her life, from her career, to personal relationships, and how she deals with family crossing boundaries. This book is about how she navigates through life, uncertain and vulnerable to forces seen and unseen.
It took lots of learning, editing, revising, and shelving entire manuscripts before I could visualize the end of the story, but here we are. The time has come where the novel is out of my hands and into yours.
